mom-teen-son-laughing

They burst through the door.  Life enters the room.  Wonderful!  They fill up my kitchen with laughter, talking, sun chips, and M&M’s.  They are the reason I’m here.  They keep me young, make me laugh, make me think, challenge and inspire me.

Children bring an awareness of the ever present responsibility I have to be flexible, available,  authentic, to serve… and to love.

The smell of  fresh baked cookies fills the kitchen.  I keep  the ingredients  tucked away in a cupboard.  Having them there says, “I’ve been waiting for you to come over!  I’m so glad you’re here!”

The laughter calms and I hear them dialogue. I tune in.  Each one sharing about how they met Jesus.  What He has done.  Why they are grateful.  I am in the presence of greatness.  Young people who are seeking after God.  Who want to know Him. Who are in process.  Learning.  Growing.  Laughing.  Active in the battle!

Greatness!  Because of an incredible God who has drawn them,  called them,  and is making them new. I am honored to have them sit at my table! I am humbled that God has  brought them here.

[verse reference=”Matthew 18:20″]For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”[/verse]

Make no mistake! God is here! He is in the midst of the  laughter, sharing, and warm chocolate-chocolate chip cookies. I am so thankful to have the privilege of knowing them, and of sharing with them what God has provided.

That’s why I’m here.
