My dear husband celebrated his 62th birthday this year. It is such a milestone that I wanted to acknowledge it. In author Gary Chapman’s bestselling book “The 5 Love Languages” I’ve identified words of affirmation as my husband’s love language. So I sat and wrote down 62 reasons why I love, honor, and respect him. Frankly, I thought it would take a lot of work but it was hard to keep the limit to 62. Here is an excerpt:
- You are teachable and relentless to teach family values and character
- You are calm in the face of adversity
- You are a brother who never tires of love
- You are a quick with tears when God’s grace and mercy is evident
He was overwhelmed and I was inspired by his response that affirmed all that I wrote.
This Father’s Day I am writing down things why I love, honor, and respect my 2 sons and 2 sons-in-love as fathers to my grandchildren. Our family is so blessed to have 4 courageous men nurturing the next generation.
Recently I saw, for a second time, the movie “Courageous.” The movie is about men that challenge and inspire other men to honor, love, and respect their role and responsibility as husband and dad. It makes courage a statement of intense value for the man willing to step up and be a real God fearing man of love, respect, and provider for his family. “Courageous” is a real tear jerker!
I believe my men deserve the title, Men of Honor!

Karen, I love this! I mean, I totally love this! I’m going to steal your idea. I know my husband is going to also love it. Thank you SO much for sharing!
This is quite innovative and inspiring, I love the idea. Thanks Karen.
Karen: I was SO EXCITED to find your articles on this website! Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
Karen, I love your writings and inspiring ALL of us in our relationships with our husbands! I have a favor to ask: would you please write all 62 Affirmations you came up with for your husband? My heart is so touched by this act of yours, and it just resonated with me to begin doing a similar “list” to acknowledge the MAIN Man in my life–my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ! Your 62 might embolden so many more women to do the same. Thank you for even considering passing this on to us—–at 64y.o. myself, my husband is 85y.o. and I read all the encouragement I can to be that better wife, that more Faithful Woman to my Lord.
