woman-pleased

[verse reference=”Psalm 5:3″]In the morning, Lord, You hear my voice; in the morning I plead my case to You and watch expectantly.[/verse]

I was desperate for peace, comfort, and security from God.

I had learned about standing in faith many years ago. I employed faith many times during difficult and unsure seasons of my life. This new thing had me falling to my knees and crying out to God for what seemed like every moment!

Crying out to God is not a bad thing. In fact, it is a needed thing; but when doing so doesn’t produce faith, growth and surrender, crying out is for naught.

As I challenged myself to read the Psalms during my distress, I took courage and faith from King David’s words.

At the beginning of so many of the Psalms he wrote, he was wringing his hands and deep in despair, but OH BOY by the end, his praise and worship were extravagant. He’d gotten a perspective change because he was reminded of who God was as his rescuer and strength.

Here is a window into what I was dealing with: lack of trust!

My husband and I decided to sell our home. We finished a multitude of projects that we’d started when we bought the home several years earlier. From the sale, our profit would’ve been sizable enough to put a decent amount down on a new home. We were pre-approved for a mortgage from the same company that had written our original loan.

The ball was rolling with a buyer’s contract for our home and then for us to secure a new home…until the finance company changed their minds.

We put our feelers out for more options, but nothing panned out.

I started to feel my trust wane. Dangerously deplete. It came down to white-knuckle faith; where I knew that I needed to hold on.

God is my only chance for peace, strength, and understanding. My only source!

Closing day for our buyer came. We were officially homeless.

As a wife, I was seeking my husband for the security of a home. His faith was steadfast. Immovable. I took my cue from him to watch and see.

Even after scouring the internet and asking friends for leads on even a rental, we were met with nothing that fully suited our large family…until a friend pointed us toward one, and on a Sunday afternoon we toured a home and submitted an application. We needed a home immediately, but knew because of a Monday holiday, that it would be a couple more days of hotel living before we could move.

THIS is where it gets really good! You know, one of those “BUT GOD” moments! The property manager contacted us on a Sunday evening?! Who does that?! It was the favor of God! Nothing but His hand moving for us.

Despite it being a holiday, we were able to move in the next day!

I tell that story because there have been times that I’ve needed that kind of hope and I was abundantly thankful for reading details in His word of how our heavenly Father came through on someone’s behalf.

I repeat the verse that I started this writing with.

[verse reference=”Psalm 5:3″]In the morning, Lord, You hear my voice; in the morning I plead my case to You and watch expectantly. (emphasis added)[/verse]

I’d written in the margin of my Bible that the Scripture does not say, “I plead my case and worry!” Its exactly the truth that I had to hold onto during that white-knuckle faith time.

The Lord heard my voice and my case. My job was to watch expectantly. With joyful anticipation, I stopped focusing on the circumstances and watched God’s faithfulness.

There is a lesson I learned that I had never had to think on before this time. As long as my family was under one roof, even in a hotel room, we were at home.

The Lord is near to those who call on Him. He is faithful and true to His word!

Amen!
