I meet with Jesus every day among the chaos of motherhood.
Some days I meet with Him with a kid on my hip.
Most days it’s with a cold cup of coffee in one hand and my Bible in the other.
Some days I get up early enough so that I can start my day off right. (But this isn’t too often the case as the kids get up earlier and earlier.)
Most days it’s after the children have gone to sleep and the house is quiet.
Other days I meet with Him while I’m doing the dishes or folding the laundry.
Some days we can have a good chunk of time together.
A lot of the time we just meet up in the quick moments between feeding children and changing diapers.
But He’s there for me, every day in all of the mundane moments and all of the noise amongst the house.
If you’re a mom of littles, I’m sure you can relate. You know all too well that our attention gets pulled in multiple directions throughout the day. You know about the exhaustion that we feel and how that extra thirty minutes of sleep can make or break your day. You know how there is very little quiet time and how you can’t ever get a moment of peace for yourself, let alone with Jesus. I do my best to get my quiet time once a day, but a lot of the time, once a day is not enough. Motherhood is hard and I usually need more time with Him to get me through the day.
And so, I meet with Him while cutting a peanut butter sandwich up for my daughter.
Or I meet Him at the bathroom sink as I’m brushing my teeth.
Or we catch up as I’m cooking dinner for my family of four.
Or He meets me in the living room as I’m vacuuming up the Goldfish crumbs for the tenth time that day.
No matter where I am or what I’m doing – He’s there.
He meets with me among the messy motherhood life.
Every. Single. Day.
And I sure am grateful that He takes me as I am . . .
Cold coffee, kid on the hip, dirty diapers, and all.
