Are you looking for a new Christmas tradition to do with your family this year? Check out this great Advent activity idea that’s perfect for families of all sizes and ages.
This year, we kicked off a new tradition as a family to help us remember what the Christmas season is all about, and they might be a great option for your family as well!
These Advent boxes with Advent calendar Bible verses inside will help you and your loved ones talk about the story of Jesus together and prepare your hearts to celebrate His coming. It’s not too late to create some of your own!
Let us know: Do you and your family have any other traditions like this one?
I found these great little boxes on Amazon that I put Scripture verses in for 25 days leading up to the day of Christmas.
The Scriptures are all in reference to the story of the birth of Jesus and help us to prepare to celebrate together. You can do this as a family no matter what age your kids are!
Another great thing about this tradition is you can really start at any time. Even if you miss the first day of December, you can jump in for 5, 10, or 15 days before Christmas as well!
Here’s how to create your own tradition from this Advent activity idea.
1. Get small boxes similar to these ones, one for each day leading up to your Christmas countdown.
2. Print off your Advent-themed Bible verses and include one in each box. I’ve created a free printable of advent verses that we use for you to download right here! The Scriptures are all in reference to the story of the birth of Jesus.

3. In our family, we include a small treat for each person inside the box. (This is optional!) Feel free to add additional wrapping, bows, etc to each box if you would like.
4. Each day leading up to Christmas, open one box and read and discuss the scriptures. Each family member also gets to enjoy the sweet treat inside as you discuss together!
This is a fun tradition that you can also do with your family leading up to the anticipation of Christmas and celebration of Jesus. Merry Christmas, everyone!
