Fun MOMents at Meals – Family Fiesta Week
Different cultures & traditions are all around us. No two families are the same. Cinco de Mayo is approaching; this weekend explore Mexican culture with your family!
On the Menu:
• Taco Buffet: use ground beef, steak, or chicken & top with cheese, tomatoes, etc.
• Mexican Rice (See below for a recipe from a MomLife Today contributor)
• Chips & Salsa
How could you communicate with people whose language you can’t speak?
Practice this simple greeting in Spanish:
“Hola!” (pronounced oh-lah; means ‘hello’)
“Mi nombre es______.” (pronounced me nōmbrā es_____.; means ‘my name is_____.)
“Mucho gusto” (pronounced moo-chō woos-tō; means ‘glad to meet you.’)
Memories to Make
Find a Spanish radio station or create a Mariachi playlist online so you can listen to some different tunes during dinner.

“The Earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness of it, the world and they who dwell in it.” Psalm 24:1
1 cup Long Grain White Rice
2 Tbs Canola Oil
2 cups cold Water
8oz can Tomato Sauce
1 tsp Mexican Seasoning*
1 Tbsp Chicken Bouillon (or 1 large bouillon cube)
*Mexican Seasoning Mix is made with equal parts: Cumin, Garlic Powder, & ground black Pepper
Heat oil in large skillet over medium-high. Add rice and cook until light brown, stirring frequently, approx. 10 minutes. Pour in water and tomato sauce. Stir. Stir in seasoning and bouillon. Cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 22 minutes without removing lid. Stir rice to fluff and enjoy!
