Ever had one of those days? The house has been flooded (twice) by a curious youngster with numerous rolls of toilet paper, the dog has turned shedding into an art form, your daughter’s best friend moved away three hours ago (taking her mother and one of your closest friends with her), the neighborhood pool is closed, ants have overtaken the kitchen, and PMS has turned you into a teeter-totter of emotions?
In an effort to forestall a breakdown, you decide to take a bath. That’s when your autistic child turns a full bottle of bath gel into a bubble mountain just out of eye shot.
Not that I would know anything about days like these …
Anyway, as a mom, we often do not want to pull out media to entertain our children. So, instead, I pulled out a DVD for me. I admit it. I needed a laugh. Reading a book wasn’t an option, and writing a country song wasn’t a good idea. I put in Tim Hawkins’ DVD concert, Insanitized.
On my way past the TV between laundry, cleaning the kitchen, preventing another flood, making lunch, killing ants, and baking cookies with my little one, I caught about one minute of laughs. It was just enough to keep me going.
Thanks, Tim. And thank you, Heather, for being such an awesome mom and wife that your husband can keep making the rest of us laugh.
Oh, and I will order Tim’s newest DVD today!
I am going to need it since the dog just ate eldest’s lunch …
Happy summer, friends!

Jennifer, I think I might be living the same life!! I was just kidding my kids that I’m gonna turn our house into a waterpark & charge admission! And I think we have watched “Insanitized” 25 times in the last month! I hope you get some quiet time and a bubble bath with no drama soon!! Thank you for sharing – it helps to know that I’m not alone in the chaos!! God bless!
