The Man Cave
“Man Cave” — This is the sign in our son-in-law’s special room, designed by his wife. I smiled and took a peek inside.
Pictures. Paintings. Sports memorabilia. Childhood relics. You get the idea that the room is the central location for his stuff with the priority of having a place of his own. I became inspired to update my husband’s oft-neglected study.
The hundred or so books that used to be in piles on the desk, floor, shelves ,and bins are now organized on custom-built bookcases, making the “man cave” look more like a library conducive for reading and study.
In one corner now sits a comfy leather chair with matching ottoman, all under the illumination of a floor lamp. Close to the seating is an iPod docking station ready to play his favorite music. The soothing music wafts from his room.
On the walls and mantles are family photos, golf outing objects, and framed inspiration prints, just to name a few. I was caught in nostalgia just collecting the items.
Lastly, just to add a “sweetener” in the man cave sits a glass jar with his favorite childhood candy, Jordan Almonds. Needless to say, it is refillable!
The best words, “Honey , I just love my room!” bring smiles!
She is a wise woman, Karen! I used to think when my husband was "caving", he was choosing that instead of me. Now I know that when he takes the time to cave, it benefits both of us :).
I always figure that when my husband is in "the cave", at least he's at home.
