“We will Tell the Next Generation the Praiseworthy Deeds of the Lord …”
Because I feel like you’ve been growing with me in my journey as a mother, but even more because of God’s sheer goodness, I’m thrilled to share with you a purely personal post!
I’m grateful to announce the arrival of our fourth child (in five years!), a son named after his father. Friday morning brought us bleary-eyed into the operating room for a prescheduled C-section, and we emerged holding one of God’s newest image-bearers!
Born Friday, April 24, 2009, at 7:48 AM CST, and a robust 8 lbs. 12 oz., he has startling blue eyes and a head full of hair. He’s also got a broad chest and sizeable thighs and hands (wait till this kid is a teenager)—but as a complement to his strength, he’s our most laid-back child so far. I think those pale eyelashes and brows might mean we’ll have another blondie. And his brothers and sister are already lavishing him with love. So many moments I cherish right now (will I remember them with the extreme sleep deprivation?); but among them, my 3-year-old’s words to the nurse: “Thank you for taking good care of my mommy!”
Lord, thank You for taking care of us, and for blessing us beyond what we could ever ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). May he be an oak of righteousness, a planting for Your splendor (Isaiah 61:3)—a man after Your heart, whose life testifies to the power of Your grace toward humanity.
“The Mighty One has done great things for me; and holy is His name.” Luke 1:49
Thanks for celebrating with us! We covet your prayers.
