Yesterday I reminded my children that I was going away for the weekend.
“Where are you going again?” my daughter asked curiously.
“To the big GodBlog convention,” I reminded her.
“Yeah, but where are you going exactly?”
“Las Vegas,” I replied.
At which point she gave me the most puzzled look and said (rightly so), “A GodBlog convention in Las Vegas? What kind of sense does that make?”
What kind of sense does that make? I explained to her that there are two conventions going on side by side, one that is a blog convention and one that is a Godblog convention and that for me this will be a true test of being salt and light to the world. I shared with her that I do not especially like the idea of being in Las Vegas, yet I am accepting the challenge and looking forward to all of the teaching venues being offered—on both convention schedules.
She did get me to thinking, though … why am I going to the convention? I enjoy people and I am looking forward to connecting with other bloggers and learning all the new and exciting stuff there is to learn about this ever-changing avenue of reaching out to others. I’m guessing it will be like drinking from a fire hose the entire weekend.
How fun it will be to meet Christian bloggers and share with each other what God is doing through our ministries! How fun it will be to meet bloggers who are far removed from God and share with them what God is doing through FamilyLife MomBlog!
My children are going to pray for me (and my colleagues) while we are away and I am going to pray that God equips me to take in massive amounts of knowledge and make some new friends along the way!
Call me crazy but somehow I’m believing that the lights are going to be shining brighter than ever in Vegas this weekend! This little light of mine, I’m gonna’ let it shine!
