I just got back from a visit with my “sister friend” Marilyn. She has been a mentor to me since we lived in Texas and though we moved from there about four years ago, time and distance have not changed my love for her. What I recognize when I’m with her is that she accepts me just as I am and challenges me to be better than I am.
Do you have a friend like that?
The kind of friend that you KNOW you can depend on to be there for you, pray for you and love your family with you. It’s the best, isn’t it?
Friendships are a picture of what can happen when quality time is spent with another. You grow in relationship and the more time you spend together the more time you want to spend together.
Interestingly, the same can be said about time spent in the Word of God. If you can discipline yourself to take the time to read the Bible each day, even if it’s just a verse or two, you’ll find that you will grow in relationship with the Lord and you will want to spend time with Him. He’ll accept you just as you are and challenge you to be better than you are.
The added blessing—when your children notice that you spend time in the Word of God, they will be more interested in doing the same.
