“Never, Lord!”
I admit that for me, this MomBlog is all about the joy of being a mother and having a positive outlook on life while resting in the knowledge that God’s got my back.
Today is one of those days where I can fully relate to Peter and I feel like screaming, “Never, Lord! This shall never happen to you!” (Matthew 16:22) The “you” I am referring to is a dear, faith-filled young couple facing the death of their newborn daughter, Molly.
For the last several days I’ve not been myself. I can’t shake the feeling of sadness and I’ve shed more than a few tears. All I want to do is pray. Pray for Molly, this precious baby who’s life held so much promise. Pray for Rebecca, this sweet young woman who loves the Lord with all her heart and was so full of joy and anticipation while preparing to be a mommy. Pray for Jake, who is a man after God’s own heart and a warrior for Jesus who was ready for fatherhood in all the right ways.
After Peter’s outburst Jesus said to him, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.”
Jesus would say the same thing to me. Satan? I do not want to be a stumbling block to anyone.
Heavenly Father, forgive me when I have in mind the things of men and continue to teach me how to have in mind the things of God. May Molly’s life, and death, point her doctors and nurses, her parents, and all those who love them (including me) to the things of God.
Dear sweet Molly, Jesus said, “whoever loses his life for me will find it,” you have found what I am struggling through life looking for … may God be glorified through your discovery and may those who hear about the life of Molly learn to have in mind the things of God!
