It’s the season of releasing our children into the hands of teachers and caregivers. And it can be frightening! We have so little control over what happens when we’re not around. Here’s a prayer you might pray for your child’s teacher or caregiver.
I know my child so well. I understand how he is made and what his needs are. But I have to trust other people with him. I have to release him into the care of teachers, babysitters, and child-care centers. This frightens me.
What if the babysitter doesn’t pay close enough attention and something terrible happens? What if the teacher hurts my son’s feelings? He is so tenderhearted, and she might not realize that. What if something scary happens at a friend’s house? What if the people I leave my child with are in some way unsafe or not able to adequately care for him?
Please free me from fear, Lord. Give me your peace.* Father, hide my child in the shadow of your wings.* Protect him by the power of your name, wherever he is at this very moment.* Give my child discernment and awareness-let him tell me quickly if there is ever anything unsafe about his situation. Keep my child from harm at the hands of those he trusts.
Give us godly caregivers. Specifically I pray for _________and __________. Bless them as they care for my child today. Give them supernatural patience and gentle understanding.* Give them wisdom as they correct and guide my child.*
Help them to lead my child in paths of righteousness.*
I ask that today you would enable his teacher to encourage him to persevere at something he finds difficult such as _________. I know it delights you when I pray specifically. Thank you that you have a tender heart toward all children and that you care deeply about the well-being of my child.*

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened…How much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! (Matthew 7:7-8,11)
