There have been times when I wondered what in the world I was thinking when I started blogging! When I am reminded of how many blogs there are out there, I often think, “Who in the world would want to read what I write?” I have even thought of quitting a couple of times, but then God has brought along other opportunities to write, or women have written or talked with me about how God is using what He leads me to write, and I am reminded of all the reasons God led me to being in the first place!
I am convinced that the Internet can be a mission field! Women around the world are looking for answers, and it’s so easy to turn on a computer and type in a few words, push “enter,” and find some answers. We all know that much of the information out there is not the best information! So, being a small voice in the sea of website voices out there is both a privilege and a calling!
Just today I had people visit my website who are from the United States, Canada, Australia, Russia, the United Kingdom, India, Germany, Brazil, the Netherlands, and Singapore! That sounds like a mission field to me! And I would never, ever be able to reach out in that way if it weren’t for the Internet! Amazing!
There have been a couple times that I have received an email that has left me speechless and in awe of all God is doing when I am not aware! Here is an e-mail I received just today!
Dear Gina,
Two months ago my sister came home from the Army to visit. I had known something was off with her for some time. She is not a believer. She looked horrible when she was here. I had your blog up on my kitchen table and it was the day that you shared about depression. She started reading through your blog and went back to Texas (I live in Florida). She had sent me a text asking me to forward the link of the blog that I had up that day. Through a series of events, she is now in an inpatient rehab for drug abuse and depression. I talked to her today and she revealed that God spoke to her through your blogs and she knows the only way she can cope is with God. She is 30 days sober today. I had to share with you. Keep on keeping on my dear sister in Jesus. You saved my sister’s mortal life. She is seeking Jesus because of your transparency.”
So, does blogging save lives? Well, I can testify to this! God has led me to share, in a very transparent manner, and to “Boast in my weakness…!” He has used a little blog for me to do that, and has opened doors through that blog that I never imagined! He has taken a very normal, weak, needful woman, and has allowed her to share her life with others. And for some reason He is choosing to use it!
God is amazing, isn’t He?
Has God used your transparency in the lives of others? We’d love you to share with us in the comments!
Hi Gina~
I totally agree!! I am a writer/blogger and feel the exact same thing. There are days when I wonder if it’s really worth it. But, like you, God reminds me that He has called to this online ministry and just because I don’t always see it, He IS at work! Great post!
I completely agree! I did a post awhile back where I shared that over 70 countries had accessed my faith-based blog in the past month, some of which were countries that are closed to the gospel. I’ve always wanted to be “an overseas missionary,” and thanks to the Internet and blogging, I AM one from the comfort of my own home as I share my walk with the Lord in a real and transparent way.
